The Master’s Degree in Film and TV Directing, with a focus on feature films, is a two-year program dedicated to the development and refinement of the directing and screenwriting knowledge and skills necessary for creating complex feature film forms. In addition to practical work, students are introduced to contemporary film practices, technologies, and creative trends.
The program is primarily focused on mentor-guided practical work. Throughout the course, students create three short films (one as an adaptation of a literary work and the other two based on original screenplay concepts) and write a screenplay for a feature film. The curriculum systematically approaches all stages of film production, including screenplay writing, pre-production, production, and post-production. Besides working on short films, students gain knowledge and skills needed for creating a feature film through the "Directing Feature Films" course. The focus is on analyzing practical directing solutions and procedures specific to feature films.
The professors in the Film and TV Directing program, including renowned filmmakers such as Zrinko Ogresta, Zvonimir Jurić, Hana Jušić, Antonio Nuić, and Jelena Paljan, are active and successful directors and screenwriters. Their films have been showcased and awarded multiple times at both domestic and international film festivals. These instructors have significantly contributed to Croatian cinematography, producing films with high professional and creative standards that have helped make Croatian cinema visible and recognized on both European and global stages. In addition to feature films, they have also directed and written short films, television series, music videos, and commissioned films.
Even during their studies, students participate in major domestic and international film festivals with their films, often receiving awards for their work. These events provide opportunities for networking with film professionals and gaining more complex experiences while observing reactions from a wider film audience. Upon completing the Master’s program, graduates will possess the necessary knowledge and skills to engage in the production of complex film and TV feature formats.
Graduates of the program earn the academic title of Master of Film and TV Directing.
