The Sound Design program at the Academy of Dramatic Art (ADU) is a component (module) of the university's Master's degree program in Editing, but it is largely designed as an independent program. The goal of the program is to educate creative, yet professional, practitioners who acquire knowledge and skills in sound for film, television, and other performing arts such as radio and stage arts. The courses that focus on film sound are closely linked with practical work, both individual and team-based. Students in the Sound Design specialization participate in the realization of film, television, radio, and stage works from other departments at ADU, as well as in collaboration with other departments at the University of Zagreb.
The Department of Editing places significant attention on forming and maintaining generational diversity among the teaching staff for core artistic subjects, ensuring the continuity of transmitting skills, knowledge, and experience from contemporary audiovisual and theatrical production. Faculty members and associates in the Sound Design program work and create as sound recorders, sound editors, music editors, sound mixers, and sound designers in film, theatre, radio, and performing arts.
Graduates of the Sound Design program are successfully employed in a wide range of professions within the film, television, theatre, radio, performing arts, multimedia projects, and video game industries. Their knowledge, skills, and expertise are confirmed through awards and recognitions they receive at numerous events and festivals. Graduates who have moved abroad have successfully secured positions in their field.
